Naming Contest!

I will freely admit that I suck at naming patterns. Sometimes I get on a streak where I'll name five patterns after town names or something, but for the most part, I'm just not good at it. Can't be good at everything, right? So, after a Twitter conversation with my invisible internet friend, I've decided to try something new. Let's have a naming contest for my newest cowl pattern, with the winner getting a copy of that pattern plus a copy of any other self-published pattern in my Ravelry store, winner's choice. Sound like fun? I thought so, too.

Here's the cowl. It's a large-scale lace thing, with garter stitch edgings. It's pink. I like pink.

If you have an idea, leave a comment on this post and tell me what you'd name this pattern! You can enter as many times as ideas. I'll pick a winner on Sunday, January 18th, and that person will receive some patterns! I have faith in you all. Surely someone is better than me at names. Good luck!

  1. Yay for invisible inernet friends!!
The second picture makes me think of the things cowboys wore on their necks/faces in the old movies.
MY family calls them hankerchiefs. I'd say twist that to Pinkerchief to honor your original, awesome, pink. OR I looked it up on a cowboy site (isn't Google brilliant??) and they are sometimes called mascadas. So what about the name Modern Mascada? The info I found said they were often made of silk, so knit in a merino/silk blend ... perfection!

  2. Love this beautiful cowl- I can see my friends asking me to knit them one in every color!
I would name it: "It's a pink thing"

  3. The small holes look like tiny bug faces to me and the raised lines look like the legs of a water skater bug, so I would call it "Water Skaters" or "Skimmer"

It is a really great pattern!

  4. That's a lovely cowl and the diamonds are beautiful. What about Daria-I-Noor, in honor of the largest pink diamond in the world?

  5. "Lotus" since it resembles the flower when it is closed at night, or "Wanderer" for the wandering lines of the pattern across the cowl.

  6. scalla, because it is a mix of scales and the flower calla.... Plus it sounds exotically italian

  7. Beautiful! It reminds me of some of the hand positions in yoga and traditional Indian dance. Kamala (heart opening, love), Namaste or Anjali (peace, honor, respect), and Uttarabodhi (supreme enlightenment).
